Under our company's purpose, “Contributing to the realization of a sustainable society through the food business,” we believe that to play an active role of all employees is essential.
To achieve this, our management plan, MS Vision 2030, promotes the strengthening of human capital through two key pillars: human resource development and the improvement of the internal working environment. We have announced its goal of achieving an employee engagement score of 70% or higher by the 2030 fiscal year.
As part of its efforts to create a ‘comfortable organizational culture that fosters job satisfaction,’ the company has set the following vision for its internal environment (Ensure the well-being of human resources): Cheerful, positive, vigorous, and proactive. Health management is also being promoted in line with this policy.
The positive emotions that form the psychological capital of ‘Cheerful, positive, vigorous, and proactive’ stem from ‘self-esteem’ and ‘self-efficacy,’ and we believe that nurturing these will naturally lead to a healthy mindset. As the saying ‘food and medicine are of the same origin’ suggests, food and health are closely intertwined.
In the era of a 100-year lifespan, the importance of food continues to grow.Mitsubishi Shokuhin, as a group of food professionals equipped with health literacy, will continue to support Japan's food and health.

Health (Well-being) is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. In addition, a state of being able to cope with the financial uncertainty of life-stage transitions and being able to choose and control one's own work and life while spending time meaningfully, developing one's intellect, and creating social contacts.
We have consolidated these into five key elements: ‘Physical Health,’ ‘Mental Health,’ ‘Social Health,’ ‘Proactive Health,’ and ‘Work and Life Control.’ By balancing and enhancing these areas, we aim to achieve a positive work environment.
In our roadmap for health management up to the 2030 fiscal year, we will advance ‘personalisation’ by the 2024 fiscal year and strengthen ‘environmental preparation and institutionalisation’ by the 2027 fiscal year. Ultimately, we aim to evolve our efforts into a ‘Kanka’ that resonates with society.
As a key goal indicator (KGI) to measure the achievement of this roadmap, we have set a new target for the ‘employee engagement score,’ and set new key performance indicators (KPIs) for ‘self-esteem’ and ‘self-efficacy’ as progress indicators for health management initiatives.
Additionally, we will continue to manage the following existing KPIs as Key Physical Health Indicators (KPHIs): ‘Proportion of maintaining a healthy weight,’ ‘Proportion of employees who exercise regularly,’ ‘Proportion of Smokers,’ and ‘Proportion of sufficient rest through sleep.’

Our Definition of Health
As well as aiming for the definition of health as advocated by the World Health Organization, we have created additional definitions for being able to act independently and for being able to control both private and professional lives, as elements that can be felt to be part of good health.
If we achieve improvements in physical health, mental health, social health, independent action, and control of both private and professional lives, this will naturally lead to enhanced self-efficacy, which we believe will enable us to achieve the goals of the Health and Productivity Management Declaration.

- A sense of “I can handle it, I can get through it with my fellow” even when they are in difficult situations.
- A state of acceptance, respect, and smooth communication at work, in the local community, at home, and in friendships.
- A state in which they are actively learning and taking action to enrich their own lives.
